FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A 15-year-old girl wounded in a school shooting near Fayetteville last week has been upgraded to critical but stable condition.
Deputies believe Abercrombie was not the intended target.
Cumberland County Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said Catilyn Abercrombie is now breathing without the aid of a mechanical respirator. Tanna said a .22 caliber bullet is still lodged in the teen's neck near her spine.
Officials have charged a 15-year-old juvenile in the Oct. 24 shooting at Cape Fear High School. Eighteen-year-old Ta'von McLaurin is charged with felony aiding and abetting.
